Photographs of 10 memories, Author's own |
Hat With Plaits: Its not a memory of my own, but its definitely something that defines a part of my childhood... From when I was able to start forming my own opinions as a baby and develop a personality I decided it wasn't fair to be a little girl with no hair, my mum noticed this as I was always intrigued by my older sisters long blonde hair... Soon after my mum noticed my longing for hair she bought me this pink hat with two brown plaits hanging down with little pink bows on... The hat became almost an additional limb for me, some kids have dummy's, blanket's, toys etc... And I had my little hat with plaits.
Passport: I was so excited about getting my first passport photo taken... I was always to young to appreciate previous family holidays, but by the age of 4 I couldn't wait to get on an airplane... Me and my mum walked down to Woolworth on our local high street and went to the back of the store where the booth was... I remember standing for ages in the little white booth spinning the chair up and up and up so that I could fit into the picture... You tell by my face in the picture that I am over excited, you can also see a section of my mums hand holding me still so I wouldn't fall off the chair...
Certificate: I remember in primary school it was always such an achievement to receive a certificate... In our classroom we would have a smiley face sticker chart, and whenever you earned a certain amount of stickers you would receive a certificate... After collecting Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates you was chosen to take an hour out of lessons to eat cake with the head teacher and all the other children... This certificate was the first of many and I "never gave up until I succeeded"
Envelope Of Nice Notes: Year 3, every one in my class were given 30 slips of paper and an envelope which had to be decorated in such a way that would determine who's was who... We all had to write down one nice thing about everyone in the class and then at the end we collected our envelope and could read all the nice things said...
"I like you because you play with me"
"to Riley you are good at sitting"
"She makes me laugh"
"You are the best"
Poly Pockets: I always used to like tiny little toys as a kid, and these two were part of a set I had called poly pockets... For my 6th birthday I received two of the same poly pocket magnetic beach party sets, so I had to take one back to the shop (but I kept both of the little girls) I would play with the blue poly pocket, but with the magnetic bottom I attached the toy to one of the hands of the clock in my kitchen, and it remained there for about 5 more years...
Monsoon Postcard: When I was about 8 I was cast for a modeling job with Monsoon kids wear, I excitedly accepted the job... The day came for me to attend the shoot and I was incredibly ill, I was really upset throughout the day because I wasn't feeling up to it at all... I always hated this picture because I look obviously ill (and weird) but I was happy I was able to be part of something for a fairly big company...
Year7 Planner: I became best friends with a girl called Mimi through being overly obsessed with decorating our year 7 planners with loads of brightly coloured stickers and patterned selotape... We would sit in our science lesson not listening, swapping different stickers with each other...
First Present From First Boyfriend: My first present from my first boyfriend, a pair of dangly silver earrings with 3 gems in each one... Sadly I haven't always been the girliest of girls so I rarely wore them, but it was the thought that's counts, and I was very pleased with them...
Berlin Photobooth With Boyfriend: This strip of photos represents the best summer holiday with some of the best people ever ! Summer of 2013 was almost like a big party with all my friends before every one went their separate ways to UNI...
Glastonbury 09-13: First time at Glastonbury in 2009 I ended up on the BIGGEST stage of the BIGGEST festival in the world with all my friends ! I was a bit nervous at first but strangely looking out from the stage at THOUSANDS of people gave me the biggest rush of adrenaline... The second time I attended Glastonbury was in 2013, and I ended up on stage again with the DJ set Major Lazer, another fantastic moment with one of my close friends... A memory I will never ever forget...
